Satan’s whispers are lies . . .
You are a priority to God
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
Meditating on these facts should bring you great assurance. Even if we don’t receive everything we want, we will get everything we truly need—God himself. “What, then, shall we say in response to this?” Paul asked, reflecting on God’s plan of salvation. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
God is for YOU. When Paul writes here that God is for “us”, he means, “those of us who are in Christ.” God is “for” His children. He is “for YOU” He has chosen YOU, predestined YOU to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ, and He has called YOU and justified YOU (Romans 8:28-30).
He is at work, causing all things to work together for your good. Your “good” includes your present process of taking care of yourself physically and mentally – your soul, your heart, your friends and family. Your “good” includes your present realization and desire to be a better friend, boyfriend, sister, son, mother or father, etc. God is helping you (whether you see it or not) bringing about the good which He has purposed for you.
Based on the premise that God is “for us,” Paul presses us to consider the implications. “If God is for us [as He most certainly is], who is against us?” Paul is not suggesting that we do not have opposition. We all know that you and I will have many adversaries – some from the outside, and many from within. Your anxiety, depression, self -doubt, fear of failure, fear of becoming stagnate – all of these are your adversaries. They are designed for the very purpose to bring you down and prevent you from becoming what God has chosen and wired you to be. Paul’s question is designed to point out the weakness of any opponent in light of the fact that God is standing with us in our defense. Right now, you might be feeling that these ‘adversaries’ that you are fighting are winning and there is no way you will be able to be victorious over them, but I KNOW that God is bigger than anything you could ever face or deal with. He is BIGGER and STRONGER, but you have to be willing to meet Him part of the way and do the work and equip yourself for those battles.
Let’s not kid ourselves. The spiritual battle we face daily is real. It is vicious and violent at times and it can and does drop us to our knees. However, we need to realize that we have more power and authority than we realize. We are children of God, we are warriors. So the next time satan whispers in your ear that you are nothing, that you are not strong enough, that you don’t have what it takes to survive the storm that is coming, remember who stands beside you and whisper back “You have misjudged me, I AM THE STORM“.
